MEET THE BEYOND GENDER BODY MOD COUPLE TAKING ON THE WORLD
Veronica Carol Blades and Adam Curlykale are not your ordinary inked couple of friends, they are the exact opposite. Blades, also known as MissXRoniX, is a transgender body modification enthusiast originally from Poland who now works as a piercer in London, UK. As a transgender, Blades was already different when she was a teen and embraced her uniqueness by getting a few more piercings, crazy hairstyles and eventually body modifications to differ herself from the stuck-up little Polish town she’s originally from. She found her way to London to complete her journey as a “beyond gender” body mods model and therefore sets a whole new level of acceptance. She just removed two of ribs.
Her friend Adam Curlykale, a Russian body modification lover just broke the internet by announcing he went under a nullification procedure, meaning he removed his nipples and genitalia, and is now a “nullo.” Which doesn’t make him the first guy who has done this, but the first one who’s 90% covered in tattoos.

LET’S MEET THE UNUSUAL COUPLE
MEET RONI -

Before Veronica became Veronica, she was known as Roni.
NO TRANSITION YET, JUST A BUNCH OF JEWELRY -

At the days of Roni, body modification went as war as a few tattoos and a bunch of piercings and the stretching of the earlobes. But Veronica was still Roni at that point.
BEFORE AND AFTER - WHEN DID YOU DECIDE TO TRANSITION TO BECOME FEMALE? DO YOU FEEL HAPPIER AFTER THE TRANSITION?

Blades came a long way, as shown in this photo. She just wishes her friends back home would feel the same and support her decisions and lifestyle.
"I've started with full speed, when I moved to London, about 8.5 years ago, as suddenly everything became possible. I've sorted hormones before I even had my appointment with the doctors- as the waiting list was so long, I've decided to speed it up as much as I could," Blades said. "Luckily I did my research and didn't end up hurting myself. Of course, I am happier now, even for the price every trans person need to pay. It's worth it."
THE SLOW TRANSITION - IS YOUR JOURNEY COMPLETED?
"Not even close, there are still few plastic surgeries I want, and then I want to finally start a full tattoo body suit, combined with subdermal implants and so and so," Blades said. "My 'transsexual journey' is an open book, as I don't know how it will end. Now I am happy where I am with this part of me, but my body modification hunger is growing. I've got this alien look in my head, and that includes plastic surgeries and body modification to the extreme, just wait and see. "
THE TRANSITION - IN YOUR PROFILE YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF AS “BEYOND GENDER,” DOES IT MEAN YOU’RE PLANNING TO BECOME GENDERLESS AT ONE POINT?
"Part of the reason why me and Adam clicked so well is obviously my understanding of gender identities. I'm exploring it, testing it, pushing boundaries. At the beginning of my gender exploration, I wanted to get nullification, I was in a very dark place back then, but I did my research, I've learned a lot about it, it's still in me, but I've decided to undergo 'Sex Reassignment Surgery' to have an insight into female form- which is the closest for me," Blades said. "I don't care as much about gender as I used to, being genderless is not about surgeries or physical appearance, it's about being free, and I believe I am free. Unfortunately, we live in a gender binary society, so out of 2 choices, female is closest for me. I'm happy to see social changes around gender."
BECOMING FEMALE - HOW MANY SURGERIES HAVE YOU HAD AND WHAT DID YOU GET DONE?
In 2014, Blades went under the knife for a facial feminization surgery done in Marbella, Spain.
"I've had three stages of 'facial feminization surgeries,' and that included hairline lowering, eyebrow lift, shave of the forehead bone- basically they've removed front of my forehead exposing sinuses, shaved it and they've put it back, fixing it with titanium screws, orbital rim shave, two nose jobs, cheek and paranasal implants, lip lift, direct lip lift- which I performed myself, chinoplasty, jawline re-contouring, trachea shave, boob job, gender Reassignment surgery, rib removal," Blades said.
PROCEDURES - HOW DO PEOPLE REACT TO YOUR BODY MODIFICATION?

Her newest body modification; pointy ears.
"Now as I've had to take a step back due to plastic surgeries which are focused mainly in a face area, I don't look as 'extreme' to the general public as I used to with my double horns and massive tunnels in my ears," Blade said. "But most people are cool and nice about it, pretty much everybody loves my eyes, I've heard a lot of compliments about it. It wasn't always like that, as idiots are everywhere, I was beaten up, or spat on, or punch, kicked and so and so, just because I've had multiple facial piercings, horns, and stretched lobes... reactions are really different, depends from the area, country etc."
FRESH RIBS - WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO TAKE YOUR RIBS OUT?
Image via @missxronix
"I've got a list of surgeries I want. I know that the change after a rib removal will be minimal, but I did it so my waist will be slightly smaller and it will be more comfortable for me to wear corsets. I have to admit though, there's part of me which wanted to get it done just so I could add it to my 'collection' of procedures," Blades said.
The removing of either limbs or bones is not uncommon in the body modification scene.
DIY LIPS (DON'T DO THIS AT HOME) - IS IT MORE DIFFICULT TO BE ACCEPTED AS A TRANSGENDER WOMAN WITH EXTREME BODY MODIFICATION, THAN JUST BEING TRANSGENDER OR A JUST HAVING BODY MODS?
Image via @missxronix
"It is difficult to be accepted for who You are despite being trans or modified or both, I've got to that stage in self-acceptance, that it doesn't really matter anymore," Blades said. "There are people who forgot what's really important in life and they hate and judge, but I have no time and place in my life for them. I love myself, and I accept who I am, that's the most important thing, nothing else really matters."
TATTOOED EYE BALLS & SPLIT TONGUE - HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU FIRST TRIED OUT BODY MODIFICATION? AND WHAT DID YOU GET DONE?
Image via @missxronix
Blades didn't just tattoo her eyeballs herself.
"I was 19 as I waited to be 'an adult' before changing my body, first major body modification was a tongue split- I did it myself, that was an interesting experience," Blades said.
MEET VERONICA - HOW DID YOU RESEARCH THE SURGEONS WHO PERFORMED THE PROCEDURES ON YOU?
SOUL MATES - HOW DID YOU AND ADAM MEET?
Image via @missxronix
"I came across Adam when someone posted His picture on one of the tattoo pages on Facebook, I've noticed a massive amount of hate, so I've decided to send Him a message asking if 'he's ok?', as I've been going through the same thing when I used to live in Poland," Blades said. "We've met up when I came to the city He used to live in, as I used to live there for 2 years, so apart from visiting friends, and doing a guest spot as a body modification artist. We've met up and apparently, we clicked as friends instantly, Whenever I was visiting Poland in other cities, Adam was there to see me."
THROUGH NO RIBS AND NO BALLS TOGETHER - HOW’S YOUR HEALTH NOW?
"Due to a lot of effort I'm put into exercising and healthy lifestyle, vegan diet and so and so, my body is regenerating really quickly," Curlykale said. "It is really important to me that when I'm healing new body modification my body gets all the necessary nutrient. Healthy body, healthy spirit."
MEET ADAM - ACCORDING TO AN ARTICLE, YOU WERE DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER, WHY DID THAT DIAGNOSIS MAKE YOU WANT TO TATTOO YOUR ENTIRE BODY?
"10 years ago I was diagnosed with a large intestine cancer, after very aggressive chemo and radiotherapy, molecular and stem cell treatments with steroid injections on top of that," Curlykale said. "My hormone levels were all around the place, which caused alopecia, vitiligo, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis etc. After introductory treatment, I've decided to tattoo places where my skin was discolorated. Although Tattoos were done at home, with not much attention to detail, covering them after didn't give me results I wanted, then the idea of tattooing my body in dark grey was born.
"My experience when I was going out, and reactions from the general public towards me looking the way I did after all this fight with cancer, killed my self-esteem. People thought I was a junky or a drunk. Before all that I didn't accept myself, the world around me didn't accept me either. Now, there's a small but significant change- the world still doesn't accept me, but I've learned how to love myself again."
DOTTED ART - HOW DID YOU GET INTO BODY MODIFICATION?
Image via @adam.curlykale
"I've never felt like part of the mainstream world. My way of thinking, the way I dressed up, my sexual orientation or system of beliefs was always different from the rest," Curlykale said. "At the age of almost 16, I became independent. The first modification I've got done was a tattoo saying 'I am' to memories worth of life. From the very beginning, I've got a clear idea of how I wanted to look until now I'm constantly progressing to fulfill my vision. I have no authorities, idols and so, the entire concept is my own idea."
WHEN YOU FEEL DIFFERENT - WHERE DID YOU GET MOST OF YOUR WORK DONE?
Image via @adam.curlykale
"It doesn't matter, my body became a canvas for me, which I was experimenting with a technique that I am tattooed is very demanding in time, pain and the final effect," Curlykale said. "Blackwork needs a lot of touch-ups. I would like to add that my skin is not black but grey- which is my favorite color."
LIKE A PICTURE NEGATIVE - HOW DID YOU RESEARCH THE SURGEON WHO PERFORMED THIS EXTREME PROCEDURE? HOW DO YOU FEEL NOW?
Image via @adam.curlykale
"In the entire process of my transformation, my friend Veronica stood by my side, who helped me to find the doctor and to arrange everything with him. This decision is a card of a happy person," Curlykale said. "Pain demands to be felt and it makes me more conscious of the choices I've made. Nullification was the heaviest body modification I've ever done. Each day I feel better and better. Pain is digesting my body, but a mirror became my ally. I have no regrets. My only motto is NEVER SAY NEVER- NEVER GIVE UP."
THE BLACK ALBINO - HOW’S YOUR HEALTH AFTER THE SURGERY?
Image via @adam.curlykale
"It could be better, but it doesn't matter how much I would suffer, it was all worth it," Curlykale said. "In life, we shouldn't regret anything, so I'm not stopping. Proudly I keep on moving forward. Pain and suffering ennoble me. Pain is just a figurative expression for a better tomorrow. "
THE BALLS TO GET THE BALLS REMOVED - WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO REMOVE YOUR GENITALS?
Image via @adam.curlykale
"From the beginning of my life, I wasn't identifying myself with any genitals. Since puberty, which in my case started when I was 10 years old up until recently, I didn't look at myself in the mirror," Curlykale said. "It was mentally very painful for me. I underwent a psychological evaluation, where from a young age the doctors were aware that I am nullo. They didn't find me crazy, as I was overly intelligent, nobody had any doubts about my sexuality or my gender in the doctor's circles."
