To be fair, the idea of most cosmetic surgery makes us wince a bit. Having our skin sliced into is a terrifying prospect. But this particular trend might make men want to cross their legs.
The MailOnline reports that the latest big cosmetic surgery is the scrotal lift.
Yep. It’s exactly what it sounds like. Also known as scrotoplasty or scrotal reduction, it’s a surgical procedure that works to remove excess and saggy skin on the testicles.
The operation works by slicing away excess skin, then rejoining the muscle at the ‘seam’ of the scrotum to reduce scarring. It can be performed under local anaesthetic as a quick, simple procedure, with patients able to enter and leave the clinic within the same day.
Recovery time is a little tricky though. Patients will feel tender and swollen for a few days after, and they’re advised not to have sex or do any strenuous activities for up to six weeks.

But for ball-conscious men, that’s a small price to pay for a perfectly smooth sack.
The Mail explains that the surgery was originally used to treat cancer patients and anyone with scrotal abnormalities and injuries. Now, with more pressure to look perfect as we continue aging – particularly in the downstairs region (BLAME PORN) – scrotal lifts are becoming more and more popular for purely cosmetic reasons.
Gerard Lambe, a consultant plastic surgeon in Cheshire and spokesperson for the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, told MailOnline: ‘It’s typically the older gentleman having the operation, mostly those over 50
‘It’s mainly self-consciousness as the procedure is only really going to change someone aesthetically.
‘It’s those who are trying to keep themselves looking and feeling good for as long as possible.’
Which is fair enough – we’re all for people having cosmetic surgery if it will improve their emotional wellbeing and self-confidence.
But we’d also like to urge anyone with testicles that perfectly smooth, uplifted, sag-free balls are not the norm as you age. It’s totally okay if your balls sag as you get older, and there’s really no need to go through pricey, painful surgery in an attempt to get the ‘perfect’ body.
Let’s call all an end to genital-shaming, and just accept the fact that all our nether regions are varied and strange but beautiful in their individuality. Vulva are glorious as they are. So are balls.
